He is basically a super-kuhlii !
At the moment he is just under a foot long and lives in the 300L community tank.
I was a bit worried at first as they sometimes pick off neons, but he never seems to bother anything in the tank.

He is not shy either and I can hand-feed him (I'll try and get a vid clip).
He goes banana's for bloodworm but he also eats mussel and when I can find any, frozen beef heart.

I would like to get another so he has a tankmate but they're pretty rare in the LFS where I live and he was the last one.

He's erm... lovely. Haha.
Very interesting though. So they slither round the tank in a eel-like way? Laughing

They move like an eel but mostly swim mid-tank. He only really hangs out on the bottom when he is resting, he is a pretty lively chappy.

ok, here we go as promised...

I didnt disturb him too much. He likes to wriggle up the glass - presumably he can see his own reflection or something.

Thanks for that. Extremely strange! They must get very tired having to move their whole body just to swim..?? Very Happy

how amazing is he!
he seems to like his own reflection too, have you thought about getting another one in there? (not just for breeding) but to see how they act together, like the Kuhlii's and clowns I'd imagine they'd play about with one another!?

I dont think the heart blood parrot born tailless, its mostly their tails were cut off. You seen tailless convicts, flowerhorns, american cichlids and sometimes discus, the chances their tails were removed too. Sure sometimes tailless cichlids were born with no tail from time to time.
I cant express displeasurehere
